My WordPress Ping List

I used to have a short ping list. In fact, I was using only one and this one ping list is supposed to ping all the others but I noticed that it is not pinging fast enough so I decided to search for a long ‘raw’ ping list.

But first, what exactly is a ping list? Modern blogging software such as Wordpress can be configured to ping – that is to notify – certain websites when new posts are made. Usually, these websites are blog search engines or the like. It’s a blog software’s way of announcing to the world that ‘Hey, I have a new post for you, include it in your database now.’ This means that a ping list is important.

What are the benefits of having a ping list? It’s important to Search Engine Optimization. Also, you’ll be amazed by how much traffic this simple thing brings to your site. There are people who receive traffic to their new post within minutes after posting. So this again is important.

Wordpress Ping List How To (or Howto if you like).

Next, how do you configure your blogging software to send out these notices? I can’t speak for other blogging softwares but I can tell you how to do it in Wordpress. First click “Options” then “Writing” then scroll down to the bottom and you’ll see a textbox labeled “Update Services”. Put in your ping list there and click “Update Options” and you’re all done.

Now, here is my ping list. Feel free to use it.

    Hi Mike,

I used to have Ping Goat on my ping list. I’m not sure if it still works though… could you verify?

the url used to be http://pingoat.com/goat/RPC2

I checked out pingoat’s site recently trying to look for a url for their ping service but I wasn’t able to find any. What they have now is a web based pinging interface.

    Thanks!

  2. Mike Lopez Says:

Apparently, Ping Goat only accepts on site pinging as of now.

  3. Alex Says:

Can you add this xmlrpc url to the list? I’ve tested it and it definitely works with wordpress.

  4. Camalaniugan Says:

Hello sir Mike. Thank you for the list :)

  5. shea Says:

Thanks. I used your share button and published it on one of my blogger blogs, the cool stuff that is free one.

  6. godefroy Says:

i have only one question: since pingomatic and pingoat (and maybe other services as well) are ping lists in themselves that include most of the other addresses listed here, pinging them wouldn’t be like a double pinging or even multiple pinging? and doing multiple pinging every day, maybe few times a day for some bloggers, wouldn’t it be perceived by search engines as a kind of spam?
i’d really like to know that
    thanks,

  7. Mike Lopez Says:

    Hi godefroy,

Interesting question. I’m not really sure but I don’t think it’s being viewed as spam considering that I’m using the ping list without such problems. But of course that’s just me.

    Mike

  8. Cashmere Says:

    Same question as godefroy :

Does’nt double pinging ban our IP addresses from these services

  9. sirshatterstar Says:

i’ve been blogging for more than 5 months now and this is the first time I learned about pinging! When I was about to add your list on my blog, I saw that I had only one url there! Lol! I sure hope adding these 70+ urls will help my site with it’s traffic. Thank you so much sir mike!

  10. Mark Says:
