Making money with Google AdSense is easy they say and I agree with that especially if you only want to make a few cents to a few dollars per day. All you need to do is put up a website which can be as simple as a blog, slap in your AdSense code in it and keep it updated. With all the hype about blogging nowadays, your blog is bound to have some visitors sooner or later and some of these visitors might just click on the ads on your site. The moment they do that, you earn money.
But you can actually do better. There are people who earn 4, 5, 6-figure incomes just with AdSense. If they can do it then why not you, right? Well, right. Ready to find out how to do it?
Well, it all starts with search engine marketing optimization. To optimize your search engine marketing campaign, you’ll need to do and remember a few things.
- Remember to focus on your topic. A blog focused on a particular niche is more likely to make higher earnings than blogs with random topics in them.
- Remember to research for keywords relating to your topic. Instead of doing this each time I write a new blog post, what I do instead is keep a list of 5 to 10 keywords on my topic and work on each of them within a one-week span by writing blog posts for each of the said keywords.
- Remember to include your main keyword in every blog post your write and include one to two other related keywords as well. This will help boost your site’s ranking for your main keyword while covering related keywords as well.
- Remember to build links to your website and new posts. You can do this each time you write a new post or on weekends. It’s your choice.
- Remember to link to other websites related to each blog post you write. This builds credibility.
But how do I do that in real life? I don’t really want to tell you but I’ll tell you anyway (you should be paying me for this, hehe). Ok, here goes nothing…
- I go to the Google AdWords keyword tool and type in my main keyword. What better tool to increase your AdSense earnings than using the tool used by the advertisers, right?
- After typing in my main keyword, I sort the results by Advertiser Competition. Chances are, the more competition, the higher the bids they pay for their ads.
- I go through the top 20 list of keywords and check them one by one on Google to find a “good keyword”. To me, a good keyword is one that doesn’t have websites listed on Google’s top 10 with the keywords I typed on their title tag.
- I research for topics that match my “good keyword”. I do this by going to article directories liek EzineArticles, make a search for my “good keyword” on their site and reading the articles. This way, I get fresh ideas on what to write about. Note that I don’t just copy the articles, I just use them to “wake up” the author in me.
- I write a blog post using the “good keyword” as my title and the information I learned from my research as my content. I also include relevant links to Wikipedia and other blogs.
- To build links and some initial traffic, I submit the newly written blog post to Digg, Sphinn, StumbleUpon, del.icio.us, my Facebook profile, and Twitter. After that, I serach Technorati for related blog posts and write decent and useful (emphasis intended) comments in them. Of course, I put my the URL of new blog post in the “Website” field of the comment form.
- I sit back and enjoy my work.
If you do this at least once daily then you’ll soon build enough traffic to your website for your topic and when there’s traffic there’s money. Always remember that when it comes to improving your AdSense earnings, traffic is always important. Traffic + Adsense = Money <- remember that formula.
So, that’s how search enginer marketing optimization can help improve your AdSense earnings.
